The Story Behind the Studio
I didn't start out thinking I'd run my own practice. To be honest, I was the kid who built forts in the backyard and sketched floor plans during math class - which didn't always go over well with teachers. But those early days taught me something important: spaces shape how we live, and we've got a responsibility to make 'em count.
After graduating from UBC's School of Architecture in 2008, I spent years bouncing between larger firms in Vancouver and Toronto. Great experience, sure, but there was always this nagging feeling that we could be doing more - pushing harder on sustainability, listening better to what clients actually needed versus what looked good in renderings. So in 2015, I took the leap and opened this studio on Granville Street.
What started as just me and a drafting table has grown into a team of twelve passionate folks who genuinely care about creating buildings that'll matter fifty years from now. We're not perfect - far from it - but we're learning and adapting with every project.
Our Approach (Keeping It Real)
Look, I'm gonna level with you - sustainable design isn't just some marketing angle for us. Growing up in BC, watching coastlines change and forests struggle, you can't help but feel the weight of what we're building. Every project we take on needs to answer one question: will this contribute to a healthier planet or just add to the mess?
That doesn't mean we're rigid or preachy about it. Some clients come to us already passionate about net-zero energy; others just want a beautiful home that works for their family. We meet people where they're at and find ways to fold in sustainable practices that make sense - financially, functionally, aesthetically.
Contemporary doesn't have to mean cold, and sustainable definitely doesn't mean sacrificing style. We're after that sweet spot where environmental consciousness, human comfort, and architectural beauty all shake hands.

What Drives Us Daily
Coffee, mostly. But also the challenge of making something that lasts. There's this moment on every project - usually deep into construction when everything feels chaotic - where you see it coming together. A wall goes up exactly where you envisioned it, light pours through a window at just the right angle, and you remember why you do this.
We're driven by clients who trust us with their biggest investments and dreams. By communities that deserve thoughtful development. By the next generation who'll inherit whatever we build today. And yeah, by the satisfaction of solving complex problems with elegant solutions.
This work matters because buildings outlive us all. They become part of the urban fabric, the neighborhood identity, someone's daily life. That's humbling and exciting in equal measure.
"I've learned that great architecture happens in the conversations - with clients, engineers, builders, even city planners over terrible coffee. It's collaborative by nature, and the projects that sing are the ones where everyone brings their expertise to the table."
- Kyrendra L. Quinth
Looking Forward
The industry's changing fast - new materials, climate pressures, shifting urban patterns. We're embracing it. Currently experimenting with mass timber construction, diving deeper into regenerative design principles, and exploring how architecture can actively support biodiversity rather than just minimize harm.
We've also been mentoring emerging architects because honestly, the field needs fresh perspectives. Young designers bring ideas that challenge our assumptions, and that friction creates better outcomes for everyone.
Where will we be in another ten years? Hopefully still learning, still pushing, still excited about the next project. And maybe with a slightly better coffee machine in the studio.
